Katy O’Brien and Jenni Dooley of Ventura have yet to lose in their high school careers.

The sophomore guards were members of the Cougars’ 24-0 junior varsity last season and have played significant roles in a 16-0 start by the varsity this season.

O’Brien, who made her first 30 free throws this season, is the starting point guard.

Dooley, a strong three-point shooter, is one of the first players off the bench.

Juniors Kelly Fay, Darcy Perez and Crystal Kleider have also come up from the junior varsity and not lost for two seasons.

“They don’t know what it’s like to lose at the high school level,” said senior guard Alex Gientke. “They’re just having a blast.”

Alemany’s trip to the Bay Area last weekend was eventful.

On the way into Concord, where the Indians played state Division III power Lafayette Acalanes at Campolindo High, they were delayed almost an hour by traffic when a shooting at Oakland Coliseum forced the cancellation of a rap concert.

Inside their hotel, three people were arrested during the two-night stay.

“Our hotel was having a bad weekend,” Coach Melissa Hearlihy said.
