Quarterbacks Casey Clausen of Alemany and Zac Wasserman of Westlake, plus defensive lineman Travis Johnson of Notre Dame, have been selected to the Parade magazine All-American football team.

They are among 55 players from 24 states to make the team that has been selected since 1963. Eight former Parade All-Americans have gone on to win the Heisman Trophy.

The entire team will be released in the Parade magazine distributed in The Times on Sunday.

* Quarterback Ricky Clausen of Alemany checked out of school Wednesday, and running back De’Andre Scott may not be far behind.

Clausen, who was a backup quarterback to his brother, Casey, is expected to move so he can attend a City Section school immediately. Taft is the likely choice. The Woodland Hills school begins its spring semester next week.

Scott, The Times’ Valley co-offensive player of the year, has not attended school since the spring semester began Monday and said Wednesday no final decision has been made. If he does not return to Alemany, Rialto Eisenhower is a possible destination. Eisenhower begins its spring semester next week, and Scott has an uncle who lives in the area.

Alemany still hasn’t hired a football coach to replace Jim Bonds, who took the St. Francis job.

The school begins interviewing candidates on Friday.
