A 24-year-old professional model from Los Angeles died when her car plunged 65 feet off Deer Creek Road in southern Ventura County, the California Highway Patrol reported Saturday.
The woman’s name was not released because authorities had not been able to reach her husband, a musician who is working in Japan, said Craig Stevens, a senior deputy coroner.
The woman died about 5:30 p.m. Friday after being ejected from her car, which crashed less than a mile from Pacific Coast Highway just north of Los Angeles County. A witness who saw the crash contacted officers.
Stevens said there was no evidence the woman was speeding or intoxicated, and there were no skid marks. Authorities do know she wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
Funeral arrangements were pending.
