Arsonist Destroys Cars Outside Apartment Complex
HAWTHORNE —
Between five and seven cars were destroyed in an arson fire Thursday night outside an apartment complex, police said.
Someone poured a flammable liquid on the cars to start the fire, said Hawthorne Officer Mark Hayes. No one was injured and the fire didn’t spread to the apartment but residents were evacuated at about 11 p.m. from their units at 4049 E. 139th St., Hayes said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department investigators are handling the case.
