Bollini, who will be a senior at Servite High in the fall, and Rho, who recently graduated from Sonora and will attend Stanford, were selected to represent the United States on a 16-player team that will play the top 16 junior golfers from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden in a Ryder Cup-style event.

COURSE HONORED

Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast has been selected by Golf For Women Magazine as one of the top 100 women-friendly courses in the nation.

The survey is based on tee-time access, clubhouse policies, availability of women’s programs, course playability, tee-box options, women’s leagues, pro-shop variety, locker room amenities, female teaching and golf professionals and the availability of women’s rental equipment.

Pelican Hill is the only county course listed in the fifth annual report. Coyote Hills in Fullerton, which was honored the last two years, did not make the list.

AMATEUR QUALIFYING

Steve Bogan of Placentia shot 69 Thursday at Industry Hills to lead a group of eight who qualified for the California Amateur Championship.

Jason Gross of San Clemente qualified last Wednesday by shooting 70 at The SCGA Members’ Club in Murrieta and Hyungwoo Kim of Fullerton qualified with a 67 at Spring Valley Lake the same day.
