8 County Soccer Teams Advance

Eight Orange County teams advanced Thursday to the semifinals of the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championship in Pleasanton and Dublin, Calif.

In the boys’ quarterfinal divisions, the 19-and-under Irvine Strikers defeated Honolulu, 1-0, and the under-18 Fountain Valley Wolfpack beat Federal Way United Solaris ‘81, 2-0.

In the girls’ quarterfinals, the Mission Viejo Magic beat Les Bois United (Idaho), 4-0 in the 17-under division. The Southern California Blues defeated the Utah Firebirds, 1-0; the Newport Beach Slammers beat Les Bois United, 2-0 in 15-under; the Slammers’ 14-under team beat United Premier (Utah), 6-0; In 13-under, the Southern California Blue beat Santa Rosa United Storm, 2-1; the Mission Viejo West Coast FC Premier beat Colorado Storm, 5-0.

Finals are Sunday and winners advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship July 25-30 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
