* Celluloid--UC Santa Barbara’s Arts & Lecture summer cinema series will continue Sunday at 7:30 p.m. with the 1925 silent film classic “Grass: A Nation’s Battle for Life.” The documentary chronicles the migration of 50,000 Bakhtiari nomads and their half-million animals across snow-covered mountains and raging rivers to grazing pastures in Persia. The screening, accompanied by live music performed by members of the UCSB Middle East Ensemble, will be held on campus at Campbell Hall. $6 general, $5 students. 893-3535.

* Patriotic--The Santa Barbara Symphony will present its annual Fourth of July Pops Concert at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse sunken gardens. Gisele Ben-Dor will lead the symphony in a program of patriotic melodies and Broadway show tunes. The music will begin at 5 p.m. Bring blankets, chairs and a picnic. Free. 963-4408.

* Independence Day--The historic Stow House in Goleta will present its annual Old-Fashioned Family Fourth of July Celebration, an all-day event concluding with a fireworks display. Gates open at 10 a.m. and activities include live music, barbecue, fire engine and hay wagon rides, quilting demonstrations, vintage car displays and museum tours. The house is at 304 N.
