Mater Dei, Dominguez Are Top-Seeded
Boys’ basketball teams from Santa Ana Mater Dei, Compton Dominguez, Torrance Bishop Montgomery and Price and girls’ teams from Harbor City Narbonne, Redondo Union and Bishop Montgomery are top-seeded in their divisions for the state tournament’s Southern California regional.
Division I teams play first-round games Wednesday, semifinals Friday and finals Saturday. All other divisions open play Tuesday with semifinals Thursday and finals Saturday.
Championship games in divisions I, II and III are at the Great Western Forum. Finals in divisions IV and V are at the Pyramid.
Winners advance to the state championships March 17-18 at Arco Arena in Sacramento.
Mater Dei, the two-time defending Southern Section Division I-A boys’ champion, plays host to City Section runner-up Crenshaw.
City Section boys’ champion Westchester plays host to Chino Hills Ayala. Girls’ titlist Narbonne plays host to Fullerton Troy.
