In the Costa Mesa baseball tournament:

Costa Mesa 5, Brentwood 4--Daniel Hunter hit a three run home run in the bottom of the seventh to give Costa Mesa (1-1) the pool-play win. Carlos Franco pitched the seventh inning and recorded the victory after striking out the side for the Mustangs.

In the Foothill tournament:

Mater Dei 6, Tustin 4--Richard Mercado’s two-out, bases-loaded single broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh in the second-round game. Mercado also pitched the bottom of the seventh, striking out two to get the save. Sergio Santos had a double, home run and three RBIs for the Monarchs (1-1).

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

Corona del Mar 9, Los Alamitos 9 (CdM wins on games 85-77)--Doubles partners Randy Myers and Peter Kulmaticki’s victory against George Canete and Wagner Wong of Los Alamitos was a key in the Sea Kings’ victory. Corona del Mar is 3-0.
