Four Homers in a Row Trigger Hart Romp

Hart High hit four consecutive home runs in the first inning and defeated Burbank, 25-0, in a Foothill League baseball game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule Friday at Burbank.

Phil Tognetti and Chris Burrows combined on a no-hitter for the Indians (8-2, 3-0 in league play.

With Hart leading, 2-0, with two out in the first, Mike Miller hit a three-run home run. Chris Gagnon, Matt Moore and Ryan Haag followed with homers.

According to the National Federation of State High Schools record book, Hart moved into a tie for third with four other schools for consecutive home runs in a game.

Choctaw High of Oklahoma set the national record of seven straight home runs in 1977.

The Indians scored 11 runs in the first and 10 in the second before pulling their starters. Marke Horvat and Bill Susdorf each had three-run homers in the second.

Hart finished with a school-record six home runs and also established school records for hits (24) and runs batted in (23).

Alemany 8, St. Francis 7--Frank Geraty’s two-run single in the sixth inning lifted the host Indians (4-3-1, 2-0) to a Mission League victory.

Alemany (4-3-1, 2-0) defeated the Golden Knights, 6-4, Wednesday night.

St. Francis (3-4-1, 0-3-1) scored five runs in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead. Roberto Cruz highlighted the rally with a three-run homer and finished with four hits.

Geraty had two hits and four runs batted in, and Tim Cantu and Brett Baker each had two hits for the Indians.

Notre Dame 12, Chaminade 3--Matt Cunningham hit a two-run double in the third inning and a three-run double in the fourth for the Knights (6-3, 4-0) in a Mission League victory at Chaminade.

James Rivero also had two hits for Notre Dame. Mike Nesbit doubled, tripled and drove in a run for Chaminade (5-4, 2-2).

Crespi 12, Loyola 2--Dale Legaspi and Jonathan Oller each had three hits and two RBIs, and Brian Horwitz had three hits for Crespi (7-0-1, 3-0-1) in a Mission League game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Valley College.

Legaspi (1-0) pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks. He also had three hits and two RBIs.

Thousand Oaks 4, Agoura 0--Tracy Goebel, a senior left-hander, pitched a three-hitter and Travis Rice hit two doubles to lead No. 2-ranked Thousand Oaks (8-2) in a Marmonte League game.

Freshman Chad Lundahl added a stolen base and one RBI.

Westlake 2, Moorpark 1--Tyler Adamczyk hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to give the Warriors a Marmonte League victory at Westlake.

Adamczyk pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12.

Jesse Kozlowski hit a run-scoring triple in the sixth to tie the score for No. 1-ranked Westlake (10-4, 4-0).

Blake Sharpe hit a solo home run in the sixth for Moorpark (6-3, 2-2).

Simi Valley 15, Newbury Park 14--Sophomore Casey Belmonte singled in the winning run for the Pioneers, who scored eight runs in the last inning to rally from a 14-7 deficit in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Simi Valley had six hits, including a run-scoring double by John Day, and drew five walks in the seventh. The Pioneers (6-4, 1-2) also got two hits and four RBIs from John Arisohn.

Mike Nykoluk (2-0) pitched the seventh inning, walking one but striking out the side.

Jared Buckley had four hits and three RBIs, David Fox had three hits and three RBIs, and Tyler G. Smith had two hits and three RBIs for Newbury Park (5-5, 2-2).

Highland 9, Lancaster 7--Jason Kubel was three for four with a triple and double, and John Santor, Fred Rico and D.J. Medlin each homered for host Highland in a Golden League game.

The home run was the fourth for Santor, who caught because Daniel Champieux is out with a strained left knee. Ryan Torres played third base in place of Santor and went three for three.

Camarillo 4, Rio Mesa 3--Geoff Buchanan doubled to drive in the winning run for the Scorpions (7-3, 4-0) with two out in the fourth inning of a Pacific View League game at Camarillo.

Jimmy Alstot (3-0) allowed four hits, struck out five and walked two in four innings. Mike Lopez, who has pitched in six consecutive games, picked up his first save.

Royal 13, San Marcos 2--Buzz Byer hit a grand slam during an eight-run fourth inning for the Highlanders (7-4) in a nonleague game at Royal.

St. Bonaventure 7, Fillmore 2--Tucker Bennett pitched a six-hitter and the Seraphs (5-2-1) won a Tri-Valley League game at Saticoy Park.

Mike Trejo doubled and drove in two runs for St. Bonaventure.

Ricky Lopez had an RBI and stolen base for Fillmore.

Nordhoff 6, Calabasas 3--John Hill had three hits and three RBIs, and the Rangers (5-2, 2-1) won a Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Nordhoff touched Arizona-bound Tony Sulser (2-1) of Calabasas (6-3-1, 2-1) for 11 hits and five earned runs.

Buckley 4, Windward 3--Bryan Gorog singled in the winning run with two out in the seventh for visiting Buckley in a Liberty League game. Colin Ward-Henninger pitched a six-hitter, allowed one earned run and had 10 strikeouts for Buckley (5-1, 2-0).

Santa Paula 10, Malibu 0--Jacob Macias hit a two-run home run in a five-run first inning for host Santa Paula (6-2, 2-1) in a Frontier League game. Aaron Segovia, Chad Metelak and John Reyes each doubled for the Cardinals.
