What: “NBA Now: Showmen of Today” videotape

Price: $14.95

Can’t get enough of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal? Here’s more. The two Lakers are among the NBA stars featured in this 50-minute video produced by NBA Entertainment and distributed by USA Home Entertainment. It’s been in video stores since April 18.

The footage is good and well-packaged. But don’t expect any penetrating journalism. Not with it being produced by NBA Entertainment. Most of the segments consist of a look at a star of yesteryear followed by a look at a similar star of today. The first segment features Magic Johnson, then Bryant.

Another segment compares Boston Celtic great Bob Cousy, “the Houdini of the Hardwood,” to Jason Kidd. Others feature Isiah Thomas and Allen Iverson, Pistol Pete Maravich and Jason Williams, and Darryl Dawkins and O’Neal. Also featured in the tape are Vince Carter, Steve Francis, Tim Hardaway and Latrell Sprewell.
