3 Hells Angels to Stand Trial in Attack

Following a brief preliminary hearing Monday morning at Ventura County Superior Court, three members of the Hells Angels were ordered to stand trial on charges of beating and stabbing an Oak View man last month, authorities said.

The men are accused of breaking into a house in the 600 block of Larmier Street on April 4 and attacking resident Will Geyer, 36, during a dispute over drugs, authorities said.

Hells Angels spokesman George Christie said Monday the suspects had been friends of Geyer’s for several years and that the charges had been fabricated by police who believe the motorcycle gang is a threat to the community.

“He’s not sure what transpired. He was woken up from a deep sleep,” Christie said of Geyer’s account of the crime.

Christie said he owns the house in which Geyer and two of the three suspects were living at the time of the attack.

Geyer, who is not a member of the Hells Angels, is under investigation for allegedly possessing heroin at the time of the attack, authorities said. No charges have been filed.

The suspects were identified as Michael Kapp, 27, Brian Applegate, 25, and Sabian Reynoso, 23, said Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Kevin Suh.

Reynoso is charged with attempted murder, assault, robbery and making terrorists threats. Applegate is charged with burglary and grand theft, and Kapp is charged with assault, robbery and making terrorist threats.

Reynoso and Kapp remained jailed Monday night in lieu of a $1-million bond. After a hearing in which his bail was lowered, Applegate posted a $60,000 bond.

A felony arraignment was scheduled for May 15.
