Mark Those Winners Down With Crayon

Share

Why do you use Curtis Crayon as a handicapper? His selections make no sense, are based on guesswork and show The Times racing section to be a third-rate entity.

Out of a possible 750 chances during the recent Santa Anita meeting, he selected only 40 winners. Most of these were flukes, thus accounting for the astronomical prices. The first two days at Hollywood Park are typical. Crayon has made 18 selections with the following results:

Winners: 0.

Last-place finishes: 4.

Next to last: 5.

Fifth place or worse: 8.

Sorry for the handwriting. I don’t have a typewriter and I’ve run out of crayons.
