Fire Stations Offer Tours, Displays

To mark Fire Service Day, area fire stations Saturday will offer public tours and, at some locations, demonstrations of firefighting equipment.

At Fire Station 88 in Sherman Oaks, firefighters will jump into nets and helicopter crews will fly over from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The station is at 5101 N. Sepulveda Blvd.

All other Los Angeles fire stations will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for public tours.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department will stage two firefighting demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., one at the Valencia Town Center, 24201 W. Valencia Blvd., and another at Fire Station 129, 42110 6th St. West, Lancaster.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Burbank Police and Fire Headquarters, 311 E. Orange Grove Ave., there will be special presentations in addition to child fingerprinting and appearances by Disney characters. All other Burbank fire stations will be open during the day for public tours.

In Glendale, there will be a benefit pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at Fire Station 21, 421 Oak St., plus a program including antique fire engines from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. All other Glendale fire stations will be open the same hours to provide tours and blood pressure checks.
