Continuing his hot streak, Cliff Sise moved into the top spot in the Hollywood Park trainer standings when heavily favored Prospective Angel rolled to victory in Thursday’s third race.

A debuting 2-year-old daughter of Northern Prospect owned and bred by Ted Aroney’s Halo Farms, Prospective Angel, who paid $2.60, gave Sise his eighth winner in 16 starts through the first 15 days of the spring-summer meet. John Sadler is next with seven.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Prospective Angel, who won by seven lengths and completed the 4 1/2 furlongs in 52 1/5, was the fourth first-time starter Sise has won with at Hollywood Park.

Sise, who is winning at better than a 30% clip in 2000, is enjoying his run, which also includes three other on-the-board finishes.

“You saddle the horse, you watch the race and you go to the winner’s circle,” he said. “A lot of my 2-year-olds won’t be ready until Del Mar and I just don’t have enough of those good, honest claimers that you need to [win a training title].”

Kent Desormeaux, who leads the jockey standings with 13 victories, was given a five-day suspension, beginning Sunday, for his disqualification on High Honor in Wednesday’s third race. High Honor was moved from fourth to fifth for alleged interference with favored Sign Of Fire.
