A culturally rich Day of the Dead festival, featuring entertainment, art exhibits and a procession, will be held Sunday at Brand Park.

Musicians and dancers will perform at the seventh annual Dia de los Muertos Festival presented by the San Fernando Valley Latino Arts Council and CultuAzlan. Interest in the event, the Mexican remembrance of those who have passed away, has increased in recent years, organizers said.

“It’s getting bigger and bigger every year,” said Nancy Lopez, arts council board member. “We used to be at the Pico Adobe, but now it’s held at Brand Park.”

Lopez said families will erect 23 altars to honor dead friends and relatives, including pictures, flowers and personal items. A procession will be held at 4:15 p.m. followed by the blessing of the altars by a priest.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 15174 San Fernando Mission Blvd.
