The season is over for Lionel Sanchez, but he is recovering from a neck injury he sustained Friday.
The Birmingham defensive lineman was released from the hospital Sunday and is walking.
“We are all relieved,” said Jesse Sanchez, 19, Lionel’s brother. “He’s up and walking and went to school [Monday] to get assignments.”
Sanchez, a senior, will wear a neck brace for three weeks.
The game against Granada Hills was halted for more than 30 minutes and Sanchez was taken away on a stretcher while players from both teams cheered for him.
