Windows of Cars, Businesses Smashed

Windows of numerous businesses and vehicles in Palmdale and Lancaster were smashed, apparently by slingshot-wielding youths, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

No one has been arrested in the vandalism, which occurred Sunday night and Monday morning.

Sheriff’s Deputy David Miklos said witnesses have offered a number of descriptions of possible suspects’ cars, including a white four-door compact carrying four males between the ages of 18 and 25.

The projectiles used included ball bearings, marbles and paint balls, officials said.

“We’ve been having an ongoing problem with vandalism to windows since about last June,” said Lt. Axel Anderson of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. “At this point, we haven’t been able to identify any commonalities, such as time and location. . . . We’re kind of at the end of our rope.”
