Mustangs Tame Ice Dogs
Kevin Epp scored the deciding goal in the Phoenix Mustangs’ 3-2 shootout victory Friday over the Ice Dogs in a West Coast Hockey League game at the Long Beach Arena.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two periods on goals by Craig Martin and Jeff Shevalier before the Ice Dogs rallied.
Kelly Askew brought the Ice Dogs within one with a goal midway through the third, and David Kudelka’s goal with 12 seconds remaining sent the game to a shootout.
The Ice Dogs outshot Phoenix, 21-3, in the third period and had a 42-20 edge in the game.
