Marsh’s Overtime Goal Wins It for Golden West
Kevin Marsh scored in overtime to give second-seeded Golden West a 7-6 victory over top-seeded Citrus in the semifinals of the Southern California men’s water polo playoffs Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.
With the score tied, 5-5, in the fourth quarter, Golden West (29-2) took a brief lead when Lorenzo Voutsinos scored late in the quarter. But Citrus answered seconds later to put the game into overtime.
Marsh and Michael McDay had two goals each for the Rustlers.
The Rustlers play Cuesta at 7:30 tonight in the championship game at Mt. SAC.
In the Mt. San Antonio men’s basketball tournament:
Sequoias 83, Cypress 66--The Chargers (0-1) lost the season opener largely because they made only 16 of 33 free-throw attempts at Mt. SAC. D.J. Lucas and Adam Rachlin led the Cypress attack with 13 points each.
At the Chaffey women’s basketball tournament:
Solano 62, Orange Coast 44--Nadia Mojica had 12 points and nine rebounds for Orange Coast (0-1), which trailed, 36-16, at halftime.
