Time Off Seems to Recharge Batteries

Share

After two days off, the Kings went through a 79-minute workout at the HealthSouth Training Center in El Segundo on Tuesday, and Coach Andy Murray was pleased with what he saw.

“We had no one standing around,” he said. “It was a really good practice. Everyone was focused.”

Murray had given his players the previous two days off because of a four-day stretch without a game. The Kings played Saturday night, tying the Detroit Red Wings, 2-2, and don’t play again until Thursday night when they host the New York Islanders at Staples Center. Murray’s thinking was the two-day break would recharge the players’ batteries, and it seemed to work.

Things are going well for the Kings, who are in the midst of a 4-0-2 streak. And goaltender Stephane Fiset is making progress with his comeback from a sprained left knee.

Fiset, who was injured Sept. 22 during a game against the Mighty Ducks, is able to drop to his knees to make saves. But Murray says he is still a couple of weeks away from playing. During his rehabilitation, he has been working with goaltending consultant Don Edwards.
