Running back Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos went to Oakland in hopes of learning the cause of the mysterious pain in his left leg.

Davis, who has sat out six games because of injuries this season, was to meet with Roger Mann, an orthopedic surgeon.

“The pain now is quite severe and that’s why we’re having him talk to a guy that specializes in that area,” said Coach Mike Shanahan, whose team plays the Seattle Seahwawks on Sunday at Seattle.

“He might be able to put him on some medication. He may look at it and say, ‘Hey, all you need is a little bit more time.’ I really don’t know.”

Meanwhile, injured Bronco quarterback Brian Griese wants to return to the lineup in three weeks, a goal that Shanahan says is still premature.
