Santa Maria St. Joseph 28, La Canada 21--Eric Young’s pass was intercepted by Brian Nunez with 3:32 to play and La Canada squandered a 21-8 lead at St. Joseph.
La Canada (10-2) led, 21-20, with 5:28 remaining, before Dustin Kelly of St. Joseph hit Ryan Smith with a 32-yard scoring pass. Kelly connected with Robby Sheldon for a two-point conversion for the final margin.
Chase McKibben ran for a nine-yard touchdown, Ryan Young scored on a one-yard run and Young connected with Lonnie Dietz for a 50-yard touchdown pass play to give La Canada a 21-8 lead midway through the second quarter.
Young completed six of 13 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. McKibben had 80 yards in 17 carries.
St. Joseph is 7-5.
