* PACIFIC (2-0) at PEPPERDINE (1-1), 1 p.m.--Humbled by Indiana in its opener, Pepperdine took out its frustrations on UC Santa Barbara, forcing 24 turnovers and holding the Gauchos to 34% shooting in a 64-53 victory. However, the Waves did not shoot well, and they might have difficulty against fast-starting Pacific, which has held opponents to 30% shooting. Kelvin Gibbs, who is 30 pounds lighter than last season, averages 16 points and 11.5 rebounds for Pepperdine. Pacific knocked off Santa Clara, 63-41, on Wednesday and opened with a 101-59 victory over Chico State.
