Suspect in ’93 Slaying Appears in Court
A 31-year-old Ventura man appeared in Ventura County Superior Court on Thursday after being indicted by a grand jury in the 1993 slaying of a Port Hueneme woman.
Michael Joseph Schultz is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 13.
Prosecutors allege he raped and strangled 44-year-old Cynthia Burger, burglarized her home and then attempted to burn down the two-story condominium.
Schultz, a career criminal currently serving a five-year prison sentence for battery on two police officers, is being held at the Ventura County Jail without bail.
