3.9 Quake Rattles Area Near Fillmore
A magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred Thursday morning in Ventura County, 14 miles northwest of Fillmore in a mountainous area, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The 9:51 a.m. temblor caused no damage or injuries, but was felt from Ojai and Ventura to Castaic, in Los Angeles County, and north to Gorman along the Ridge Route on Interstate 5. It took place at a depth of four miles.
The Geological Survey said the quake was preceded by four light jolts nearby the day before. The strongest of those was a magnitude 2.6.
