Bengals Make QB Controversy a Moot Point

Times NFL writer Robyn Norwood poses--and answers--the burning questions for this week’s games:

1. Question: Why isn’t Bill Cowher starting Kordell Stewart, who led the Steelers to their two victories?

Answer: Maybe because it won’t matter against Cincinnati. This way Kent Graham didn’t lose his position while he was injured, and Cowher can go back to Stewart anyway.

2. Question: How many NFL records will Kurt Warner and the St. Louis Rams set?

Answer: The Rams should notch their 12th consecutive game with at least 30 points, and Warner needs only 126 yards to break Drew Bledsoe’s record for most yards after six games. Warner also figures to tie Steve Young’s record for consecutive 300-yard games at six. And with another 80-yard touchdown play, the Rams will tie the record of six in a season.

3. Question: What statistical battle are Brett Favre and Mark Brunell trying NOT to win?

Answer: They’re tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with Cade McNown and Jon Kitna.

4. Question: Will Jevon Kearse look like The Freak of last season against Jacksonville?

Answer: Maybe so. Extra attention from blockers has helped limit last season’s NFL sack leader to 1.5 sacks. But Jacksonville has given up more sacks than any team in the league at 27.

5. Question: How many people will Daniel Snyder fire if the Redskins lose to the Ravens?

Answer: Let’s just say all the politicos will have some competition for moving vans in January.
