Pepperdine Gets In the Last Kick, 3-2

Lindsey Brouillette scored in the fourth minute of the second overtime on Friday to give Pepperdine a 3-2 victory over Gonzaga in a West Coast Conference women’s soccer match at Gonzaga.

Brouillette converted a pass from Lacey Ubaldi, who scored for the Waves (12-4-1, 2-3 in conference play) in the second and 85th minutes.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 2, Cal Lutheran 2--Betsy Fisch notched her 15th goal and Bonnie Bornhauser scored her sixth goal, but the Regals (16-3-1, 11-0-1) settled for a tie in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Cal Lutheran.

It was the fifth tie in 12 seasons for the Regals, who have clinched their 10th consecutive title.

Kelly Turner converted a penalty kick with two minutes remaining to lift Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (8-9-2, 6-5-1) into the tie.

Ventura 7, Moorpark 1--Jenny Graham and Natalya Durgan each had two goals and an assist for the Pirates (14-3-3, 9-2-1) in a Western State Conference Northern Division game at Ventura.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO

Valley 13, Canyons 7--Shelly Stiles scored six goals for the third time this season for Valley in a WSC game at Canyons (6-17, 0-6).

Byanka Delgadillo added three goals and Julie Olson and Tevis Rybin had two goals each for Valley (15-7-1, 4-2). Goalie Debbie Hoch made eight saves.

Olson leads the Monarchs with 74 goals. Stiles has 58.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Moorpark def. Pierce, 15-2, 15-2, 15-1--Toni-Ann Merendino had seven kills, eight digs and five aces, and Carina Nusinov added six kills and six digs as the Raiders (13-1, 10-0) won a WSC Northern Division match at Moorpark.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Royal 14, Mira Costa 10--Ramiro Saldain scored all four goals in the fourth quarter and the Highlanders (22-3) earned their ninth consecutive victory in a nonleague game at Rancho Simi Community Park.

Saldain finished with eight goals and Justin McClure added three for Royal, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Division IV and No. 2 in the region by The Times.

Thousand Oaks 28, Westlake 2--Tom Smith, Eric Markle and Travis Kraus each scored three goals for the Lancers (10-8, 3-4) in a Marmonte League victory over Westlake at Newbury Park High.

Crespi 11, St. John Bosco 2--Colin Flinders and Brian Wiser each scored twice in the second quarter, when Crespi (17-6) scored seven times in a nonleague game at St. John Bosco.

Rio Mesa 17, Camarillo 4--Nick Glaze had six goals and six assists for Rio Mesa in a Pacific View League game at Freedom Park Recreation Center in Camarillo.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Village Christian def. L.A. Baptist, 15-3, 15-8, 15-2--Maria Abaca had 11 kills and eight digs in an Alpha League victory for the Crusaders (18-1, 3-0) at L.A. Baptist (8-11, 1-3).

Viewpoint def. Buckley, 15-6, 15-8, 15-10--Sarah Kellard had 11 kills with six blocks and the Patriots (17-0, 12-0) clinched the Liberty League title at Buckley.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Ventura 11, Newbury Park 7--Katy O’Brien, Sara Cid and Monique Maggipinto each won two of three sets for Ventura (11-3) in a nonleague match at Newbury Park.
