This is a battle between the top-ranked teams from Orange and San Diego counties. Fallbrook opened its season last week with a 38-0 romp over San Marcos and will look to keep its momentum going against Mater Dei, the defending Southern Section Division I co-champion. The Warriors, who went 7-4-1 last season, feature a wing-T offense that allowed four rushers to gain at least 50 yards in Week 1. Running back Donnie Lucy led the way with 67 yards rushing and two receptions for an additional 57 yards. Fallbrook quarterback Nick Underseth completed five of six passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns in his varsity debut.
