L.A. Daniel Murphy 47, Saddleback Valley Christian 0--In its first varsity football game, Saddleback Valley Christian was no match for a bigger, faster and stronger opponent, at St. Margaret’s High.

The Warriors, who suited up only 15 players, reached Daniel Murphy territory only once, in the fourth quarter, when they moved just past midfield. Their next three plays were an incomplete pass, a three-yard loss on a bad snap, and an interception.

Lawrence Hollis and Jason Narcisse combined to rush for three touchdowns and more than 200 yards for Daniel Murphy, which is coming off a 1-9 season.

“They’re pretty small so we had an edge there,” said Anthony Holly, Daniel Murphy’s first-year coach.

Hollis rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns in eight carries. Narcisse had 94 yards in 10 carries, including a 48-yard touchdown on the second play from scrimmage.

Derrick Warwick, Saddleback Valley Christian’s quarterback, had a tough afternoon. Under pressure and forced to pass almost immediately after receiving the snap, he completed only three of 14 and was intercepted five times.

The Warriors fared little better when trying to run, with Brian Harbin leading the team with 21 yards in 13 carries.
