Terrell Vinson scored four touchdowns, helping Dana Hills gain 527 yards rushing Thursday night and defeat Santa Ana, 49-6, in a nonleague football game at Santa Ana Stadium.

The Dolphins didn’t complete a pass, but it hardly mattered as they scored on their first five possessions and evened their record at 1-1.

Santa Ana (0-2) didn’t slow down Dana Hills in the early going as the Dolphins gained 10 yards or more on 12 of their first 15 plays from scrimmage. By that time, Dana Hills had a 28-0 lead thanks to three touchdown runs by Vinson and one by Kyle Kelly.

Vinson added a fourth touchdown later in the game and finished with 164 yards in 11 carries. Kelly had a game-high 176 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns on runs of 17 yards in the first quarter and 22 in the second quarter.

Reserve Michael Loconto rushed for 71 yards, all in the second half, and scored the other Dana Hills touchdown. He scored on a three-yard run with 49 seconds remaining in the third quarter to make it 49-6.

The Saints were held to 41 yards in the first half, but finally scored their first touchdown of the season in the third quarter. Nathan Cumpian scored on a 23-yard run with 6 minutes 22 seconds remaining in the period after his own 47-yard run put Santa Ana in scoring position. Those two runs accounted for nearly half of the Saints’ 168 yards of offense.

Cumpian finished with 74 yards rushing in eight carries for the Saints.

Dana Hills, which turned over the ball six times in a 24-18 season-opening loss to Fountain Valley, did not have a turnover Thursday.

The teams combined for 33 penalties, 30 in the first half.
