Carson (1-0) vs. No. 5 Fountain Valley (1-0)
7 TONIGHT ORANGE COAST COLLEGE
This looked like a terrific showdown a week ago, but Carson, the defending Los Angeles City Section champion, has to be the favorite now. Fountain Valley quarterback Casey Clark, believed to be in the beginning stages of mononucleosis, will be out at least two weeks; tight end/defensive end Bernard Fano has a bulging disc in his neck, and cornerback Chad Triplett dislocated his shoulder in practice. Also injured are Julio Vega (shoulder), Fano’s replacement, and linebacker Joey Flores (back), who missed the first game. Somehow, the Barons must stop the Colts’ running game.
