De La Hoya Severs Ties With Trainer Alcazar

Former welterweight champion Oscar De La Hoya on Saturday severed ties with his longtime trainer, Robert Alcazar, according to several sources.
Alcazar came under heavy criticism in the wake of De La Hoya’s two losses in his last three fights, a September 1999 defeat to Felix Trinidad and a June 2000 loss to Shane Mosley.
No decision has been made on the choice of a new trainer, the sources said.
