Paula Yates; British TV Personality Was Involved With Late INXS Singer

Paula Yates, 40, British TV personality who had a highly publicized romance with the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence and an 18-year marriage to pop musician Bob Geldof. Yates, who had a daughter with Hutchence, was his partner from 1994 until November 1997 when he committed suicide by hanging himself in a Sydney hotel room. Yates said in her 1995 autobiography that by the age of 8 she was a mentally disturbed anorexic. She reportedly was treated for depression after Hutchence’s death. Yates previously was married to Geldof, ex-singer of the Boomtown Rats, with whom she had three children. She found fame in the 1980s on the music program “The Tube” and “The Big Breakfast” in which she invited famous people into bed for interviews. On Sunday in London of causes yet to be determined.
