* Freshman Ian Prichard of Virginia, formerly of Buena High, has been chosen Atlantic Coast Conference swimmer of the year.

Prichard set conference, ACC meet and Virginia school records in winning the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle events at the ACC Championships in February.

BASEBALL

* Dale Legaspi, Crespi High’s starting shortstop the last two years, has committed to USC.

Legaspi has a 4.3 grade-point average and scored 1320 on the SAT.

FOOTBALL

* Charles Curtis, an offensive lineman from Chatsworth High and Pierce College, has committed to Missouri Western State College.

SOFTBALL

* Tryouts for the West Coast Tides’ 18-and-under team are scheduled for Sunday at Blanche Reynolds School in Ventura.

SOCCER

* Five-day sessions of the West Valley Soccer League Spring Camp, directed by Marwan Ass’ad, former Northridge men’s soccer coach, are scheduled for Monday through Friday and April 16-20 at Pierce College.

MISCELLANY

* A free workshop on college admissions requirements will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. today at Cal State Northridge.

Organized by Athletic Director Fluke Fluker of Chatsworth High, the workshop is for parents and student-athletes in grades eight through 11.

Speakers include President Jolene Koester of Northridge, City Section Commissioner Barbara Fiege and representatives from UCLA, USC, the NCAA and junior colleges.
