Police Kill Two Robbery Suspects in Garden Grove
Plainclothes Anaheim police detectives on a stakeout in neighboring Garden Grove shot and killed two men who allegedly tried to rob an El Pollo Loco restaurant Thursday night.
The detectives followed the men to the fast-food restaurant after trailing them throughout the day in connection with a series of robberies in Anaheim, police spokesman Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
“The suspects went into El Pollo Loco and, as detectives were outside, we understand, a robbery was taking place,” Martinez said.
“As they left, the officers attempted to stop them. The subjects were in their vehicle, they tried to flee, they resisted arrest, the officers were involved in a shooting and we know that we have two males down.”
Medical personnel performed CPR on at least one of the men before loading him into an ambulance.
