Brush Fire Blamed on Children With Matches
Children playing with matches caused the brush fire that threatened homes and charred 76 acres near the Los Angeles-Ventura county line, investigators said Sunday.
The fire burned for three hours Saturday afternoon before 300 firefighters knocked it down. Flames came within 100 feet of homes, but there were no reports of property damage or injuries.
Arson investigators were still trying Sunday to identify the children responsible for the fire, which started in or near El Escorpion Park near Vanowen Street and Valley Circle Boulevard.
