Stanford Holds Off Pepperdine

Lindsey Yamasaki and Nicole Powell each scored 20 points as undefeated No. 7 Stanford defeated Pepperdine, 75-63, Friday night at Malibu.

Powell, who also had 11 rebounds, made six free throws in the final 1:29. The Cardinal (7-0) has won all its games by at least 11 points.

Shandrika Lee scored 15, Damaris Hinojosa 14 and Keani Christianson 13 for Pepperdine (2-3).

Hinojosa’s three-point basket gave the Waves their final lead, 45-42, with 14:23 to play.

Cori Enghusen had five points during Stanford’s 12-0 run that gave the Cardinal a 54-45 lead with 10:17 to play.

Stanford led, 33-26, at halftime, but Hinojosa’s driving layup with 15:24 remaining gave the Waves their first lead, 40-39. Pepperdine guard Tamara McDonald followed with a layup off a steal. Yamasaki then tied the score with a three-pointer.
