Poll: Voters Favor Open Space for Ranch
Three-fifths of Orange County voters support setting aside most of Rancho Mission Viejo as open space, according to a poll released this week.
The survey of 400 voters was commissioned by the Endangered Habitats League.
The family that owns Rancho Mission Viejo’s 25,000 acres has proposed setting aside two-thirds of the ranch as open space, and building 14,000 homes and millions of square feet of commercial space on the rest.
The Orange County Planning Commission has set a public hearing on the proposal at 3 p.m. today.
