Gunshot Kills Oxnard Man
A 24-year-old Oxnard man died at St. John’s Regional Medical Center Friday night after he was shot outside a local liquor store.
Saul Rojas died less than an hour after the 8:30 p.m. shooting, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Jason Benites. Detectives interviewed several possible witnesses Saturday. As of late evening, there were no suspects.
When officers responded to Goode’s Liquor in the 1200 block of Saviers Road on Friday night, they found Rojas, who had staggered inside after the shooting, lying on the floor with a single gunshot wound to his chest, Benites said. Rojas lived adjacent to the store.
Detectives were investigating whether the shooting was gang-related, Benites said. Authorities would not comment further on possible motives.
