Employees Blamed in $2-Million Store Fire

Share

A fire at a Big 5 Sporting Goods store Wednesday that caused $2 million in damage was started by employees using aerosol spray cans, according to authorities.

It did not appear the employees intended to start the fire, said a spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department. But investigators intend to present the case to the district attorney, who will determine whether a crime of “recklessly starting a fire” occurred. No one has been arrested.
