Suspended New Orleans Saint wide receiver Albert Connell surrendered Friday after arrest warrants were issued accusing him of stealing more than $4,000 from teammate Deuce McAllister.

The first warrant alleges $863 was taken from McAllister’s locker Dec. 5, and the second alleges $3,500 was taken from the running back’s car Dec. 9, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Connell surrendered a few hours after the warrants were issued, Sheriff’s Lt. Ed Still said.

Connell, who signed a $14-million contract last spring, was suspended Dec. 19 for the rest of the season, although the team refused to say why.

If convicted, Connell faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $3,000 fine.

The Saints began an internal investigation after McAllister found money missing and reported it to the team.

Connell has admitted taking the money. But he said he did it as a prank and returned the cash.

Spergon Wynn will start at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

The team said that Wynn will fill in for Todd Bouman, unable to firmly grip the ball since straining a ligament in his right thumb against Detroit on Dec. 16.

Bouman started the last three weeks in place of Daunte Culpepper, who injured his knee Nov. 25 and hasn’t played since Dec. 2. But Bouman played for only one series Sunday against Jacksonville after aggravating the thumb. Wynn completed 24 of 39 passes for 218 yards and an interception.

Quarterback Jay Fiedler was added to the Dolphins’ injured list with soreness in his throwing elbow but is expected to start against Atlanta on Sunday.

Fiedler was listed as probable but took all the snaps in practice. Coach Dave Wannstedt said he expects Fiedler to start against the Falcons.

“It was a little sore [Thursday], so we added him to the list,” Wannstedt said.

Wannstedt said receivers Chris Chambers (ankle), Oronde Gadsden (hamstring) and James McKnight (ankle) will be game-time decisions.

Tennessee Titan quarterback Steve McNair was excused from practice because of a family illness.

McNair practiced Thursday for the first time in nearly two weeks and left almost immediately after practice to catch a flight to Mississippi. Coach Jeff Fisher said he expects McNair back today.
