The Pepperdine men’s volleyball team scored an upset Saturday against Stanford.
The Waves rallied from a 2-0 deficit in games behind a career performance by Lance Walker, formerly of North Hollywood High and Pierce College.
Pepperdine (7-2, 3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) lost the first two games, 30-25 and 30-25, before rallying to sweep the next three games, 30-22, 30-26 and 15-11.
Walker, a junior outside hitter, recorded a career-best 17 kills. Senior outside hitter Scott Wong had 15 kills. Pepperdine limited Stanford (6-1, 3-1) to a .197 hitting percentage. The Waves hit .377.
Stanford’s Billy Strickland, a Harvard-Westlake graduate, had 13 kills.
