Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 62, Cal State Fullerton 60--The Titans (3-19, 2-10) led the Big West game at Fullerton until the final minute before suffering their ninth consecutive home defeat.

Junior forward Brandon Beeson drove into the lane and dropped in a five-foot shot to give Cal Poly SLO (9-13, 3-8) its first lead of the game at 61-60 with 33 seconds left. Beeson missed two free throws with 18 seconds left, but the Mustangs maintained possession, and Jamaal Scott made one of two free throws with 14 seconds left.

Fullerton failed on two late scoring opportunities. A pass by the Titans’ Matt Caldwell was intercepted by Scott with 19 seconds to go, and Ryan Dillon missed a three-point shot in the final seconds.

Cal Poly SLO’s Chris Bjorklund, the Big West scoring leader with a 19-point average, had a season-low. Bjorklund came into the game needing only seven points to become the school’s career scoring leader.

Watende Favors led the Mustangs with 17 points, making four of eight three-point shots. Beeson, who played at Irvine Woodbridge High, made five of seven shots and had 16 points.

Fullerton’s Ike Harmon, in his first game since suffering a stress fracture in his left foot on Jan. 19, scored a team-high 14 points in 20 minutes.
