Kueny Propels Brea Past Apple Valley

Allie Kueny scored twice in overtime for Brea Olinda and helped the second-seeded Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over Apple Valley in the first round of the Southern Section Division III girls’ soccer playoffs Friday.

Kristin Kline scored Brea Olinda’s first goal in the first half. Apple Valley’s Missy Longly tied the score early in the second half and the game went into overtime.

Brea Olinda (20-4-3) will play Temecula Chaparral in a second-round game.

In other Division III games:

Cypress 5, Covina Charter Oak 0--Allison Chislock and Ambyr Haberman had two goals each and Amira Ebel also scored for host Cypress (17-7), which plays Santa Margarita on Tuesday. Goalie Adrienne Casillas made five saves to get her 14th shutout.

Santa Margarita 16, Savanna 0--Jessica Haluck had three goals and Britteny Perkowski, Lisa Perrotta and Shannon Foley scored two goals each for top-seeded Santa Margarita (16-2-2).

Valencia 1, Pacifica 0--Missy Loera scored on a penalty kick in the 30th minute for visiting Valencia (16-9-2). Goalie Erin Duran made eight saves to get her sixth shutout. Valencia will play La Verne Bonita Tuesday.

In Division I:

Aliso Niguel 8, Santa Ana 0--Kim Divine scored three goals and Lisa Sternberg had a goal and three assists for Aliso Niguel (19-3-2). The Wolverines, ranked No. 7 in the county, play Los Alamitos on Tuesday. Santa Ana finished 18-5-3.

Capistrano Valley 4, Long Beach Wilson 0--Kim Horn and Ashley Casas each had a goal and assist for the Cougars (15-2-5), who will play Bell Gardens or Downey Warren in the second round.

El Toro 4, Downey 0--El Toro goalkeeper Kristina Plumley recorded her 15th shutout, while Lindsay Smith scored two goals for the Chargers, who face Redlands in the second round. Katie Carney and Megan Malone also scored for El Toro.

Esperanza 4, Moreno Valley Valley View 1--Lindsey Hayes, Allison Costello, Shalice Pugmire and Erin Clewitt scored goals for Esperanza (15-4-5).

Valerie Evans scored for Valley View and Krystal Castelo had 20 saves. Esperanza will play Santa Maria Righetti or Camarillo on Tuesday.

In Division IV:

Ocean View 5, La Puente Bassett 0--DeEtt Summers and Natasha Souders had two goals each for host Ocean View. Goalie Kaylin Olivas got her ninth consecutive shutout, making two saves. Ocean View will play Cerritos Valley Christian on Tuesday.

In Division V:

Fairmont Prep 3, Gardena Serra 1--Kelli Behrens, Addie Obioha and Andrea Shoukair scored for Fairmont (15-3-1), which plays Orange Lutheran on Tuesday.

Orange Lutheran 5, Temecula Linfield 0--Sophomore Nicole Johnson scored three goals, giving her 19 for the season. Katrina Heynie and Jackie Steiner scored one each and Laura Miklos had two saves for host Orange Lutheran (18-4-5).
