Foothill (28-1) vs. Santa Margarita (22-8)

8 TONIGHT BELMONT PLAZA

Perhaps no one in Division I can match up with the speed and firepower of top-seeded Foothill, which enters the game with a 21-game winning streak. Santa Margarita tried once and lost, 11-1, in the semifinals of the Irvine Southern California Championships. “We didn’t play well at all in that game,” said Santa Margarita senior Katy Kunkel. “But they definitely have a lot of talent, so it’s going to be tough.” With U.S. youth national team players Kristina Kunkel and Erika Figge, the Eagles do have the potential to draw ejections and score against the Knights. But if Foothill scores some quick goals off its counterattack, it could be a long night for Santa Margarita.
