Guard Jim Jackson returned to his basketball roots Tuesday when he was acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks for point guard Brevin Knight.

The Cavaliers also got guards Anthony Johnson, 26, and Larry Robinson, 32, from the Hawks for Knight, who has been bothered by a sore knee.

Cleveland waived forward J.R. Reid and guard Michael Hawkins to make room for Jackson.

Jackson, 30, is joining his sixth team and has a career average of 17.4 points during his nine seasons in the league. He is from Toledo and was an All-American at Ohio State before turning pro in 1992.
