Seminoles Looked Overconfident
Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden admitted after Wednesday’s 13-2 loss to Oklahoma that his team may have been overconfident after being installed as a double-digit favorite in the Orange Bowl.
“I mean, you know, everybody talked about how many pros we got,” Bowden said. “I thought we played, offensively especially, that we had been reading our clippings a little bit. That is the way it looked and I am probably correct on that.”

Tay Cody, Florida State’s star right cornerback, left the game in the first half and was taken to the hospital to have his spleen examined but returned to play in the fourth quarter.
Cody, a senior, who was a four-year starter after redshirting, had six interceptions this season.

Even now that the season is over, Oklahoma Coach Bob Stoops would not confirm that quarterback Josh Heupel has been playing with a sore throwing elbow.
“No, I don’t think it is fair to say,” Stoops said. “I thought Josh had an excellent game and led us to victory. He came into this year with one goal and one goal only: Not to win the Heisman Trophy, but to win the national championship.”
