Kentucky Upends No. 4 Tennessee

Tennessee entered Tuesday night’s showdown with Kentucky at Lexington, Ky., with a much better record and a much higher national ranking.

But the fourth-ranked Volunteers left Rupp Arena with their seven-game winning streak nothing more than a memory after the unranked Wildcats’ 84-74 victory.

Keith Bogans scored 21 points and Tayshaun Prince added 16 as Kentucky, 10-5 overall and 3-0 in the Southeastern Conference, ran its winning streak to seven games.

The Wildcats smothered Tennessee (16-2, 3-1) from the opening tip and never trailed.

No. 2 Duke 97, No. 25 Boston College 75--Jason Williams scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Blue Devils (16-1) over the Eagles (12-2) at Durham, N.C.

No. 13 Virginia 89, Florida State 71--Keith Friel scored 15 of his 22 points on three-point baskets to lead the Cavaliers (12-3, 2-3) over the Seminoles (5-12, 0-4) in an Atlantic Coast Conference game at Charlottesville, Va.

No. 19 Wisconsin 67, No. 14 Iowa 54--Roy Boone and Mike Vershaw each scored 18 points and Mike Kelley shut down Luke Recker to help the Badgers (11-4, 2-3) to a Big Ten victory over the Hawkeyes (14-3, 3-1) at Madison, Wis.

Kansas State 80, No. 20 Missouri 59--Matt Siebrandt scored 20 points and the Wildcats (8-7, 2-2) held the Tigers (12-4, 3-1) to 20% shooting in the first half of a Big 12 game at Manhattan, Kan.

Texas Tech 60, No. 22 Oklahoma 59--Jamal Brown made a five-foot bank shot between two defenders with 1.5 seconds remaining to give the Red Raiders (8-7, 2-2) a Big 12 victory over the Sooners (12-4, 1-3) at Lubbock, Texas.

No. 12 Iowa State 84, Colorado 68--Martin Rancik scored 19 points and Jamaal Tinsley had 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds to lead the Cyclones (14-3, 2-2) over the Buffaloes (11-6, 1-3) in a Big 12 game at Ames, Iowa.
