Notre Dame’s Defenders Are Ill-Equipped to Handle Siam

Karina Siam of Harvard-Westlake High missed basketball practice Monday because of the flu, but she came off the bench to score 22 points Tuesday in the Wolverines’ 57-46 victory over Notre Dame in a Mission League girls’ basketball game at Harvard-Westlake.
Siam made nine of 16 shots, including two three-pointers.
Lyndsey Medders had 13 points for the Wolverines (17-5, 5-0 in league play), the No. 3-ranked team in the region by The Times.
Sierra Hauser-Price scored 14 points for Notre Dame (9-12, 2-3).
Chaminade 51, Alemany 38--Cynthia Lai scored 15 points to help the Eagles (16-2, 4-1) win a Mission League game at Chaminade.
Valencia 59, Canyon 47--Stephanie Patterson had 13 of her 15 points in the first half for the Vikings (18-4, 4-1) in a Foothill League victory at Canyon (13-8, 2-3).
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Saugus 60, Hart 57--Bradford Sayer and Chad Krogh each scored 13 points and the No. 10-ranked Centurions (14-6, 5-0) hung on for a Foothill League victory at Hart.
Hoover 59, Glendale 56--Chris Rivera made all 10 of his free throws, including two with 11 seconds left to clinch the Tornadoes’ Pacific League victory at Glendale.
Fred Akopyan’s shot with 1:04 left gave Hoover (9-10, 2-3) a 57-56 lead.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Agoura 20, Thousand Oaks 0--Erika Clark had seven goals in a Marmonte League game at Agoura (15-3, 5-0).
Harvard-Westlake 21, Notre Dame 5--Courtney Quinn had seven goals in a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Hart 3, Saugus 0--Mike Caso scored two goals and Kyle Raynish made three saves in his 10th shutout for the Indians (13-6-3, 5-1) in a Foothill League game at Saugus.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Kennedy 3, San Fernando 1--Ann Coria and Brigitte Macias scored in the second half to give the Golden Cougars (10-5-1, 4-0-1) a Valley Mission League victory at San Fernando.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
CS Long Beach def. CS Northridge, 33-35, 30-18, 32-30, 30-28--Joe Nargi had 21 kills and Eckhard Walter had 20, but the Matadors lost the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at The Pyramid.
John Baxter had 61 assists for Northridge (3-4, 0-2).
